The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Vice President (Education).  Reporting to the Deputy President and Provost, the appointee will be a member of the Central Management Team responsible for the planning and development of teaching and learning initiative of the University as set out below.

Job Functions

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    play a key role in formulating and implementing Planning Exercise Proposals in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan;

(b)    lead the development and enhancement of academic programmes, including both curriculum and pedagogical development, and related academic supportive functions of the University;

(c)    develop and execute institutional policies and plans for academic quality assurance and for the pursuit of educational excellence;

(d)    oversee the operation of some non-academic units of the University as designated; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Deputy President and Provost or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have outstanding academic qualifications at Chair Professor level with evidence of eminent scholarship;

(b)    have demonstrated strong administration and management capability as well as track records in academic planning and development especially in matters related to teaching and learning, with solid experience acquired in a senior capacity of a sizable and renowned university;

(c)    be a visionary and inspiring leader with a strong drive for excellent performance;

(d)    have a proven track record in driving significant changes in academia successfully;

(e)    have an international outlook and a good understanding of global trends and opportunities in higher education;

(f)     have prior experience and a clear vision of digital transformation and technology-enhanced pedagogies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education;

(g)    have exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with different stakeholders both internally and externally; and 

(h)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; as well as proficiency in Putonghua.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Terms of appointment and remuneration package are negotiable and highly competitive.
