Medical Review Coordinator
Job Summary
The Medical Review Coordinator (MRC) is responsible for the completion of transplant donor charts, and the medical review process in preparation of eligibility determination. Additionally, the MRC assists in the release of research and discard designated donor charts.
Responsibilities
- Performing medical review of transplant charts in preparation for release.
- Releasing of research and discard charts in a timely basis.
- Assisting in training of staff to release donor charts for research purposes.
- Providing real time feedback to staff related to donor chart completion and coordination; provide summary reports to respective leaders.
- Interacting with Operational, Executive, and Medical Directors concerning medical histories.
- Maintaining excellent customer service relations with referring hospitals, OPO, and OME.
- Maintaining compliance with Federal HIPAA regulations and complete annual HIPAA training as required by the University of Utah Health School of Medicine.
- Following up with coordination staff to ensure all legal information has been obtained for donor.
- Completing annual Bridge/LMS training per University of Utah Health Academics policy.
- Participating and complying with established Quality Assurance policies and assist with routine monitoring upon request.
- Accomplishing special projects as assigned by the Quality Assurance & Donor Eligibility Supervisor.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Problem Solving
Incumbents in this position are expected to be familiar with the department's policies and procedures and have working knowledge of University and department organizations and procedures in order to answer and assist staff and visitors. Incumbents are also expected to demonstrate sensitivity to others' needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years of related experience required; ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks; demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
