Safety Officer
Department: University Police
Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Safety Officer in the University Police department. This is a 36 week position.
The candidate would be expected to: check student and visitor identifications and document non-residents to the building; maintain radio contact with headquarters/police personnel; notify dispatch and shift commander of any criminal or suspicious activity.
The Monmouth University Police Department (MUPD) is the primary department charged with creating a safe and secure environment at Monmouth University. MUPD operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The department consists of professional university police, safety officers, dispatchers, staff, and administrators dedicated to providing the best available resources to our community. Safety officers work in several areas, including the main campus, the Graduate Center at Monmouth Park Corporate Center, and the University Bluffs in Long Branch.

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Respond to call-ins as needed.
- Ability to maintain data manually and generate neat and accurate reports.
- Must be able to maintain composure and appropriate decorum during difficult situations.
- A valid driver’s license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years. University Policy found here:Monmouth University Vehicle Use Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a Class I, II, Park Ranger or Security Officer is preferred.
