Assistant Building Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
The role involves supervising administrative, financial, personnel, and technical aspects of a program within a specific department, working alongside the Building Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities include organizing employee duties for both full time, part time, and work study student workers and providing guidance to department administrators regarding program activities. |
Responsibilities
1. Policy Implementation: Implement customer service, human resources, and budget-related policies consistent with University of Utah guidelines.
2. Effective Communication: Communicate program updates to internal and external stakeholders.
3. Community Relations: Foster collaborative relationships within the community and institution.
4. Customer Satisfaction: Address complaints and suggestions promptly to ensure satisfaction.
5. Budget Management: Prepare and monitor operating budgets, reporting on expenditures monthly or annually.
6. Staff Oversight: Manage full time, part time, and work study student workers and coordinate maintenance within budget constraints.
7. Staff Development: Enhance staff competency through training programs and evaluations.
8. Equipment Management: Procure necessary equipment and oversee work scheduling using the CMMS system.
9. Resource Allocation: Optimize staff scheduling, full time, part time, and work study student workers based on available resources.
10. Facility Inspections: Regularly assess facility performance levels.
11. Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response efforts.
12. Energy Conservation: Support energy-saving initiatives and waste reduction.
13. Project Coordination: Represent and support departmental facility projects collaborating with district management staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4 - 6 years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
