The Haecker lab in the Division of Microbiology & Immunology is looking for a Research Technician to join our team. This is a fantastic chance to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative lab environment while exploring cutting-edge research related to autoimmunity and inflammation.
Using various molecular, biochemical, and cell-based techniques, you'll explore how genetic mutations impact inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. This role is perfect for those aiming to advance towards a PhD or MD career.
As a key member of our team, you'll:
- Support Research Projects: Help with data collection and analysis for ongoing studies.
- Help to manage Mouse Colony: Assist with the assessment and maintenance of the mouse colony, and perform minor animal surgeries.
- Assist with Lab Operations: Handle everyday lab tasks, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
- Drive your own research project: Get interested in a particular project, develop your own ideas and design and execute experiments to explore the unknown.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:Nearly Continuously: Laboratory environment.
Often: Exposure to animals and chemical and biological hazardous agents.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (pipetting), walking, standing, sitting.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other scientific disciplines in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials and substances. Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports required; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. OSHA training and certification in animal care and use or the willingness to complete the certification may be required by some departments.
