Summary:

The Employer Relations Team (ERT) in the AU Career Center connects students and alumni to career opportunities with organizations and industry professionals - locally, nationally, and globally. ERT provides strategic engagement through in-person and virtual programs. ERT reaches students early in their academic career, tracks first-destination outcomes, and continues support after graduation.

Functions:

The Employer Relations Assistant will assist the team in day-to-day duties including:
  • Supporting the data collection efforts for the Graduation Census, which is administered to all undergraduate and graduate students who apply for graduation and gathers information about students' post-graduation employment and graduate school plans.

  • Creating and sending marketing communications and materials regarding opportunities and events.

  • Event planning and day-of execution for virtual and in-person employer information sessions, industry events, job fairs, and other employer events.

  • Conducting industry research to identify new employer leads.

  • Collecting and analyzing data from events and jobs in Handshake to support mid-year and annual reports.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Compensation:
  • $17.50-$18.00/hour.

Educational Requirements:
  • The incumbent must be a current or enrolled AU student.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during the period of employment.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, mature and professional demeanor, strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, maintains confidentiality, comfortable interacting with alumni, employers, and university staff, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Can work independently and in a team to complete designated assignments. 

Preferred Requirements:
  • Research skills and familiarity with social media sites, specifically Instagram & LinkedIn. A professional interest in event management, marketing, alumni/employer relations, data analytics, database management, and graphic design is desirable.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal staff and external stakeholders.

Work Environment:
  • Students will work in the AU Career Center office and be equipped with a computer and other office equipment/supplies. Routine in-person work hours between 10am to 4pm, Monday through Thursday. Other hours may apply when supporting special events. 



Work Hours per Week:
  • 4 -7 hours per week.
