JOB TITLE:
Programmer Analyst - Applications & Customer Relations
JOB PURPOSE:
Analyzing user requirements, designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications that enhance business operations
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook . Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
This position involves on-call status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Programming functions, including defining requirements, writing code, testing, implementing, and maintaining code. This is done to keep current applications functioning and add new features when released or requested. 40%
- Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge and understanding of supported applications and programming languages. This is done to make sure the most value is being delivered from the application and users are able to achieve business outcomes. 20%
- Communicate with end users to map and develop processes/procedures that maximize use of SIS applications and enhance their ability to deliver services. This is done so that users understand the best way to use the application for their needs. 15%
- Work with the SIS leadership team to help prioritize active and upcoming projects. This is done so that leadership understand the complexity and time a project will take in order to prioritize it amongst other competing priorities. 10%
- Prepare and update documentation on work products and implementations. This is done for future planning if an implementation needs to be adjusted, retired or determine how it impacts other technical processes. 10%
- Provide technical project guidance to student employees. 5%
- Provide computer, program application, and report writing instructions to users.
- May provide backup support to major programs with critical campus-wide effects.
- Maintain currency in programming field; may recommend equipment and software purchases for department.

This position is eligible for remote work and/or a flexible work schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent of combination or education and work experience
Experience: 1 year work-related experience in computer programming is preferred
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy .
- Experience programming/supporting the Ellucian Banner ERP system.
- Experience programming/supporting Salesforce CRM.
- 1 year of experience programming using Oracle database.
- Ability to write and interpret complex SQL and PL/SQL in a production environment.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Successful experience in priority setting and time management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Experience communicating and collaborating effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Experience programming or developing business applications
- 2 years of experience in basic programming languages.
- Experience in programming using complex relational database structures.
- Prior systems analysis experience.
- Experience communicating with end users throughout the project development lifecycle.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Initiative-taker, motivator, and collaborator.
- Resourceful problem solver.
