The Library Clerk – Circulation- Evenings (Part-time) position assists with the implementation and delivery of efficient patron services for the Harvey Library. Duties include monitoring library floors, technology and equipment to ensure compliance with library and university rules and regulations. Other duties include implementing stacks maintenance activities and other projects as determined by the Library Director. Assigned work schedule is Monday-Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. until

9:00 pm and Sunday 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm during the summer semester and Monday-Thursday 7:00 pm – 1:00 am and Sunday 1:30 pm- 7:30 pm during the fall and spring semesters. Hours will adjust to day shift as needed during breaks between semesters.

Job Duties:

· Monitor library evening services and student workers of the Harvey Library.

· Communicate with the Library Director regarding implementation and updating of policies and procedures related to security and customer service.

· Provide assistance to patrons with the use of resources and answer both directional and policy questions.

· Assist patrons by providing guidance in the location of books and other materials.

· Maintain collections by shelving materials, shelf reading, and performing stacks maintenance activities.

· Assist with providing coverage at the Circulation and Reference desks.

· Monitor patrons on the floor by conducting routine floor patrols and counts.

· Assist with closing procedures of the library by ensuring that floors are clear of patrons, clearing books from study carrels, straightening chairs, and performing other closing duties.

· Assist other departments as needed to process materials, perform book repair, etc.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· High school diploma required, Associate degree strongly preferred.

· Must be able to work evenings and weekends (Sunday –Thursday) and adjust to day shift as needed during breaks between semesters.

· Knowledge of computer applications and technology.

· Exceptional customer service skills.

· Strong writing skills.

· Must be able to shelve books according to the Library of Congress classification scheme.

· Must have the physical ability to push and shelve a fully loaded book cart that weighs up to 65 lbs.

Qualifications:

· Strong customer service background.

· Ability to work evening and weekend schedule.
