Compensation offers are evaluated based on a combination of education, experience, qualifications, and other pertinent factors such as internal equity.

Job Summary
The audio specialist is responsible for all aspects of audio design and production in the performing arts department, as well as supporting other touring series and all external and internal rentals, occurring in the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators
The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution
- Leads on planning and organizing the design/installation, execution, and removal of all audio elements
- Operates audio equipment and provides special audio effects as needed
- Oversees audio production work of student employees and professional contractors
- Creates, maintains, and modifies sound plots and paperwork
- Collaborates on planning and overseeing maintenance and repairs of all audio and related equipment
- Supports the director of theatre production in budget planning and managing relevant budget lines
- Teaches up to two classes per academic year, dependent upon credentialing, performing arts departmental needs, and time availability
- Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
- Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
- Mentors student audio designers and technicians in professional techniques and methods
- Collaborates with appropriate theater and academic staff to create professional-level audio designs
Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field required; master’s degree in Theatre or closely related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience
- Higher Education experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
- Working knowledge of Pro-tools, Q-Lab, Microsoft Office Suite, and Computer-Aided Drafting
- Preferred knowledge of video projection and Adobe graphics programs
- Excellent creativity, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to use good judgment and think critically
- Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously
- Academic performing arts center environment, housing one large fly-house venue and one black box, plus academic administrative offices and classrooms
- Must be able to accommodate a variable schedule that includes nights and weekends

- Ability to navigate audio control positions
- Ability to work at heights on ladders, lifts and catwalks
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
