The School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Electrical Power and Energy Engineering. This position is a 100%, continuing tenure track Assistant Professor position with a start date of August 15, 2025.

Examples of Duties

Teach required and technical elective courses in Electrical Engineering. Engage in an active research program by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and acquiring competitive external funding. Supervise doctoral and master’s students. Provide school/university/professional service.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field at the time of appointment. ABD candidates may be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2025. If all requirements for the Ph.D. degree are not completed by that date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered by University Policy ( https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2 -faps/conting.php ). Candidates should have an established record of outstanding-quality research publications in the power systems and related areas, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Housed within the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics, the School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering has state-of-the-art teaching and research infrastructure. Relevant to this position, the School offers a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and MS, and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The School houses a site of an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center funded by the National Science Foundation and the Center’s member companies, and a research Consortium established by the State of Illinois. Its faculty are active in acquiring extramural research funding from federal agencies, industry, and state agencies.
