General Summary

The Department of World Languages is seeking a part-time lecturer of German for university classes. The successful candidate will teach Freshman level German classes on campus or online as needed. Online courses that the lecturer will use have been created in Canvas.

The lecturer will teach the 4 language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) as well as grammar, vocabulary, and a general overview of the cultures of the German speaking world. Students may be taking the course for General Education credit, but the lecturer will be expected to inform the students of the benefits of studying German, and to recruit students into the German minor or major.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

MA in teaching, German, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching German preferred.
