General Summary
The Department of Leadership and Counseling in the College of
Education invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in
Counseling, Higher Education Student Affairs/General
Administration, K-12 Administration, and undergraduate Leadership
Minor.
Depending on the needs of the program within the department, which
vary from semester to semester, we may need new qualified Part-Time
Lecturers to teach graduate and undergraduate classes.
Higher Education Student Affairs: Master's level courses.
K-12 Administration: Master's level courses.
Counseling: Master's level courses.
LEAD Minor: Undergraduate courses.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations that
employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to
meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes,
assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and
course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials
to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades
in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University
schedules.
Perform related duties as required by the Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Higher Education Student Affairs:
For all positions, teaching experience and a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in
higher education are preferred, but applicants who are ABD or hold
a Master's degree with relevant graduate coursework will also be
considered; relevant research experience is also desirable.
K-12 Administration:
For all positions, teaching experience and a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in K-12
Administration are preferred, but applicants who are ABD or hold a
Master's degree with relevant graduate coursework will also be
considered; relevant research experience is also desirable. Online
teaching experience is required.
Counseling:
For all positions, teaching experience and a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in
Counseling are preferred, but applicants who are ABD or hold a
Master's degree with relevant graduate coursework will also be
considered; relevant research experience is also desirable.
LEAD Minor:
Applicants with an advanced (MA/MS) degree in Leadership Studies
are preferred; however, individuals with advanced degrees in
related disciplines may be considered. Relevant experience in
teaching, research, and/or employment related to leadership
education will be considered.
The Department Head finalizes appointments for each term in
consultation with the Leadership and Counseling Faculty.
