Position Summary:
Primary responsibility is to teach a progression of American Red Cross Swim Lessons consisting of Parent-Tot classes (ages 3 to 28 months), a progression of learn to swim classes for children 2½-5 years of age, and a progression of learn to swim classes for children 6 and older. The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) is expected to prevent accidents through proper use of equipment, awareness and responsibility. WSIs can plan on working during operational hours through the academic year and summer. Employees are expected to be professional, greet all patrons in a courteous manner, and serve as an information source for aquatic related inquiries. This is a part-time position that also provides the ability to teach private lessons.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification;
  • Current American Red Cross CPR:PR Certification;
  • Previous work experience that demonstrates:
    • Ability to work well with the public;
    • Ability to deal with staff and public in a professional, team oriented manner.




Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a lifeguard;
  • Experience teaching, instructing, and mentoring individuals and groups in activities;
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
