Sales Representative, WXPN

Job Description Summary
WXPN, the public media service from the University of Pennsylvania, is looking for a Sales Representative to generate and cultivate business for the underwriting team. This employee will be based at the WXPN office in Philadelphia, with at least 50 percent of time outside of the office on sales calls. Must have personal vehicle and valid driver's license for client visits. This position involves spending the majority of work time engaging in business development activities.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Sales Director, they will design and implement sales efforts targeted to potential corporate sponsors for local programming, events, digital assets, and prospects for new business. Manage current accounts to ensure timely collection and to increase renewal revenue. Meet established sales and collections goals. Perform other work as needed, including compiling personal weekly sales and activities reports, and work with the traffic department to ensure the contract confirmations are accurate and that sponsorship announcements are written, approved, scheduled, and run appropriately.

Please note that compensation is based on commission versus draw.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work directly with the Sales Director to design and implement sales efforts targeted to potential corporate sponsor
  • Manage current accounts to ensure timely collections, increase renewal revenue and meet established sales and collections goals
  • Provide accurate and timely paperwork including sales reports, traffic and production orders, on-air copy, and client proposals
  • Work with other internal departments including marketing, membership, events and programming as needed
  • Attend sales training meetings, networking events, staff meetings and industry conferences when appropriate
  • Face to face meetings with potential sponsors and current sponsors essential
  • Ability to prospect for new business is imperative
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications
  • BA/BS or equivalent education and experience required.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of proven successful hands-on experience in sales, corporate promotions or marketing required. Experience with selling media will be an asset.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
