Job Description:
Trinity University’s Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a Lecturer for the 2025-2026 academic-year, beginning in August 2025. The primary responsibility of this position will be teaching and coordinating our introductory lab sequence and supporting our introductory courses. The teaching load is three lab sections per semester, with a possibility of two lab sections and one lecture course per semester. There is also the potential for additional teaching and compensation during the summer term. Additional duties include administrative tasks associated with the lab and providing support for introductory lecture demonstrations. Lecturers are fully integrated into the department and are expected to contribute to departmental and university service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide enthusiastic, effective instruction in an undergraduate liberal arts setting

Assemble and oversee production of lab manuals each semester
-
Ensure lab equipment is set up for the labs each week

Work with other members of the department to develop and implement a new laboratory curriculum

Help assemble and build demonstrations for introductory lecture courses

Provide support to our rooftop observatory

Contribute to department and university service
APPOINTMENT DETAILS
This position is a 9-month full-time non-tenure-track position, with an initial 3-year appointment. Additional 3- or 5-year contracts are possible after favorable review. Promotion to Senior Lecturer is possible after 5 years of service.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: Master’s Degree in Physics or closely related field
Preferred: PhD in Physics or closely related field
EXPERIENCE
Required: Some teaching experience, including any teaching experience as a graduate student
Preferred: Enthusiasm for teaching at an undergraduate institution and demonstrated ability in teaching

Trinity is a residential liberal arts college. Physical demands are minimal, but a successful applicant must be able to teach an in-person, three-hour lab
