About CCSU’s Office of Wellness Education

The mission of the Office of Wellness Education is to work collaboratively with students to enhance their overall wellbeing and capacity for optimal academic success. Wellness Education is under the Department of Counseling and Student Development. We equip the Central community with resources and information that foster healthy lifestyles and promote academic success. Our initiatives include large scale annual health fairs, such as Fresh Check Day, Alcohol Awareness Fairs, and My Best Self Fairs, as well as ongoing prevention and education outreach to a variety of student groups, substance misuse intervention programs, and other wellness-related initiatives. Located in the Student Wellness Center, we also provide a quiet place on campus for students to decompress from academic and non-academic stressors.



Position Profile

The coordinator of wellness education is responsible for outreach and other activities conducted by the Department of Counseling and Student Development (CSD) that support and enhance student wellness, healthy lifestyles, and success. Through these activities, the coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing student mental health and physical health through promotion, prevention, and early intervention activities and events. This multifaceted position leads educational initiatives and provides support to students seeking to improve their overall health. The successful incumbent will collaborate with other Student Wellness Center (SWC) personnel, Residence Life, Student Rights and Responsibilities and other University partners, the coordinator assists with the design, implementation, expansion, and assessment of wellness education and substance abuse programs ensuring the delivery of innovative, evidence-based, and comprehensive programs and services. The coordinator also provides counseling services to students seen at the Student Wellness Center.



Applicant Evaluative Criteria



Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

Education:



All applicants must possess a master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related mental health field.



Experience and Training:



Candidate must possess four years of direct counseling experience working with the college-age population within a university/college or community-based counseling center. Experience with program design in the areas of wellness, substance misuse prevention, education, and intervention.

In addition, the candidate must be currently licensed (or immediately license eligible) to work independently as a mental health provider by the State of Connecticut (Psy.D., Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT, or LPC only).

Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered; however, licensure or immediate eligibility as a mental health provider by the State of Connecticut is required.

Compensation and Employee Benefits



The Wellness Education Coordinator is compensated at the rank of Administrator IV salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
