Job Description:
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will work closely with the Vice President for Administration and Finance, supporting the Vice President for Administration and Finance’s management of the Senior Staff and programs across various critical university functions ensuring priorities and strategic agenda are being tracked, met and reported to the Office of the President, serving as a sounding board, and overseeing the implementation of key work-streams on behalf of the Vice President for Administration and Finance. This position will oversee Risk Management and serve as a key advisor to the offices of Procurement, Facilities Management, Auxiliary Services, and Human Resources, among others.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Office of Risk Management.
- Provide support and guidance on policy and procedure development, evaluating risks, devising innovative risk mitigation solutions, assisting with compliance monitoring and auditing efforts.
- Work with the Vice President for Administration and Finance to assist in setting and implementing strategic priorities; and identify and support areas requiring attention.
- Ensure effective and efficient tracking and reporting on strategic initiatives to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, including overseeing and improving internal tracking and data reporting systems.
- Assist or represent the Vice President for Administration and Finance at internal and external meetings.
- Develop written communications for the Vice President for Administration and Finance to principal stakeholders in partnership with the appropriate departments.
- Serve as a liaison between staff, the Senior Leadership Team, department leads, and the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
- Assess and establish organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
- Work directly with Human Resources to provide support related to employment and human resources matters and assist in development and revision of human resources related policies and procedures as needed to ensure legal compliance and promote a positive employee experience.
- Provide support, research and guidance on assigned on labor matters.
- Review and draft Vice President for Administration and Finance office contracts, including in the areas of procurement, facilities, sponsored research agreements, technology agreements, federal and local government contracts, custom education agreements, and affiliation agreements in coordination with Legal and Compliance .
- Other duties as assigned.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree or a Master’s Degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to Non-Profit Management, Political Science and Public Policy is preferred..
- A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies, policies, programs, and activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for relationship-building and collaboration across varying departments.
- Capacity to lead via influence with an approach that attracts and inspires others.
- Detail-oriented and data-driven.
- Ability to work comfortably in a diverse environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated integrity and excellence in their work.
