Basic Sciences Core Faculty -Microbiology
Job Summary:
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine (SOM) is currently seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track basic sciences core faculty position. The ideal candidate will have a history of teaching excellence in medical education and the leadership skills to serve as core faculty in basic science courses in phases 1, 2 and/or 3. The selected candidate will provide instruction in basic science courses across multiple disciplines including Microbiology and serve as facilitator for small group discussion in case-based learning, problem-based learning, and other small group sessions. In addition, this position will collaborate with clinical and basic science faculty for the development of clinical cases to emphasize basic science curriculum and will participate in the development and review of exams and evaluation of learning outcomes.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

- Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to each student during
their clerkship year as needed.
- Review reflections/experiences of students.
phase 3: medical students
- Continue to provide a mentoring relationship.
- Review and edit students' personal statements as
requested.
- Write letter of support for residency application as
requested.
- Attend post-Match Party in March and Medical School Graduation
in May

- Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability
to multi-task.
- The ability to interact with both staff and faculty, at all
levels, is crucial to this role.
- The ability to work resourcefully and efficiently in terms of

confidentiality, and autonomy, is also imperative.
