Job Description:

The Lead Systems Programmer designs and develops new system software and modifies existing software to support the computing infrastructure and services of the Computer Science Department. The scope of this work ranges broadly and may include OS-level systems, web stack and other network services, system administration toolchain components and system-related applications.

The Lead Systems Programmer also develops processes for automating the delivery of new, improved or upgraded services using configuration management and orchestration tools.

The incumbent provides technical leadership, contributes to strategic planning, establishes standards, and provides advice and training to other team members.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-7 years or relevant programming experience
  • experience with linux
  • excellent software design, testing and debugging skills
  • ability to debug system level problems and provide solutions
  • ability to acquire new knowledge and skills as needed
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team, work well under pressure, and multitask
  • possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community
  • knowledge of python, golang perl, web programming and unix shell programming
  • knowledge of data modeling principles and SQL
  • knowledge of DevOps and Orchestration concepts and methods
