General Statement of Duties:

Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the Program Liaison will play a pivotal role in overseeing LEI's Community Health Education Program, specifically the Health Promoters or Promotoras de Salud team. In addition to managing the Promotoras de Salud team, the Program Liaison position is also about helping to make a real difference in the lives of the Latinx community. The Program Liaison will ensure the Promotoras de Salud empowers community members through health and education and connections to health resources in Spanish-speaking communities. Leveraging their insights and knowledge of cultural norms, they will provide relevant health information and education to help Latinx, especially from low-income families, work through the barriers they face when addressing complex health issues such as obesity, diabetes, mental health, navigating the healthcare system, and gaining access to affordable fresh and nutritious foods. The successful candidate will be a supportive, positive, and energetic participant in implementing outcomes measurement/assessment systems, with the aim of improving health outcomes of the Latinx population through the deployment of Promotoras de Salud in public schools and the local Latinx community.
Responsibilities:

1. Plan, coordinate, and evaluate LEI's Promotoras de Salud work under the LEI's Community Health Education Program. This includes overseeing the design and development of day-to-day community engagements, outreach, communication, educational activities or workshops, and professional development for the Promotoras de Salud.

2. Manage LEI's Promotoras de Salud data collection and tracking with the support of LEI's Data Analyst and provide monthly reports (or as needed) for internal and external purposes.

3. Responsible for building partnerships with the public sector (e.g., Worcester Public Schools, Worcester Department of Public Health) and key community-based organizations, especially those working with health, food security, education and community development.

4. Meet weekly (or as needed and determined) with the LEI management and the Promotoras de Salud team to coordinate community engagements, logistics, reporting, and decision-making.

5. Participate in required training, workshops, conferences, or other aspects of professional development, including funder-sponsored events.

6. In-person position with field activities.

7. Other duties as assigned, including supporting other staff and representing the organization upon assignment.

8. Make recommendations to the Executive Director regarding issues related to the Promotoras de Salud participation in different community events, workshops, or trainings.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, both in writing (for progress reports) and verbally (for public presentations).
  2. Cultural competence. Strong work ethic and commitment to positive youth development.
  3. Strong work ethic and commitment to positive youth and family development.
  4. Success in prioritizing and meeting multiple demands and deadlines.
  5. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, manage own work and time, and be accountable for performance.
  6. Alignment and agreement with the vision, mission, and values of the Latino Education Institute.
  7. Disposition to work some evenings and weekends.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree with 2- 3 years of experience working in Public Health or other health-related fields, or a graduate student completing a graduate program in Public Health or other health-related fields.
  2. Bilingual in English and Spanish
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the Worcester Latinx community, especially in the area of health education
  4. Staff supervision experience
  5. Reliable access to transportation

Hourly Rate: $25 per hour
