Position Purpose
Maintains and repairs small engines, differentials, pumps, axles, cardio electronics, and parts in DCAD program vehicles, exercise/cardio equipment, and tools.
Description
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
High School plus 3+ years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools, equipment, and shift-type vehicles
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Must have basic mathematical skills
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities in all kinds of weather
• Must be able to work extensive overtime or at night
• Must be able to communicate with and understand the need for solid public relations with a diverse community including administrators, coaches, faculty, the general public, etc

Key Accountabilities
Description
Mechanic Responsibilities:
Vehicles
- Repairs and maintains large and small mobile equipment such as the Zamboni, Forklift, field markers, sprayer, roller, utility vehicles, rototiller, mower, trucks, sweepers, etc. Services all vehicles including oil change, grease, plugs, etc. Performs a range of repairs to engines; inspects parts for damage; verifies conformance to factory specifications; replaces or repairs worn or damaged parts. Coordinates truck maintenance to vendor for oil changes, etc.
- Field Markers – Rebuild pumps, axles, differentials, drive systems, wiring, grease bearings, change oil, lube chains, etc. Order all parts.
- Refers major repair work for Zamboni and forklift to vendors as necessary. Major repair work is defined as internal motor and electrical problems, or problems covered by the maintenance agreements.
- Zamboni repairs such as water control systems, electro magnetic coil, etc. Grease all fittings. Provides emergency repairs as needed if parts are available, etc. Provides diagnosis to vendor and schedules repair or vendor may provide telephone assistance to make repair.
- Coordinate vehicle insurance matters with Business Affairs.
- Provide log for all repairs on all vehicles.
- Performs quarterly vehicle safety inspections, including registration paperwork.
- Maintenance: checks all welds, bolts, nuts, pads, straps, guards, chains, pedals, etc. for cracks, breaks, wear, tightness, tears, etc.
- Lubricate: all chains, slide rails, bar ends, fill oil reservoirs, grease all bearings, clean excess grease, sand, and dust, etc.
- Repairs: Replace worn or broken parts, make all adjustments, order parts. Schedule maintenance with vendors covered by maintenance agreements.
- Troubleshoot complaints or work orders.
- Provides bi-annual maintenance to all gym equipment.

- May provide backup support to DCAD Crew during emergency situations or during peak intervals that do not interfere with the completion of the mechanic responsibilities.
