Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the Institution Security Officer II (ISO II) include but are not limited to conducting foot and vehicle patrol, working fixed posts, operating two-way radios, phones, responding to incidents and emergencies. The ISO II is an entry-level position and works under the guidance of, and receives direct supervision from, Institution Security Officers or other employees of higher grade who provide instruction, assign work, review performance through observation, and reports for conformance to all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
This is a uniformed position and emergency essential designated employee. Additionally, this position may be required to work holidays, nights and weekends and compulsory overtime. The ISO II welcomes and assists people with directions and medical needs and submits narrative reports for review. This position is based at Cape Cod Community College's main campus but may be required to work at alternative campus locations as assigned.

Full-time, benefited AFSCME Unit Position - Job Grade 9 - Step I with a biweekly salary of $1536.86 for an annual salary of $39,958. Candidates may qualify for placement above entry-level salary if currently employed in the State system. Position includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Patrol and make periodic rounds and security checks of buildings, grounds, and parking lots by foot and/or vehicle.
- Effectively handle or control emergencies by administering first aid, summoning assistance.
- Serves as "eyes and ears" for the Public Safety department. Respond to 911 calls on campus and assists with incident management.
- Prepare reports and logs on the occurrence of fires, disturbances, accidents, crime investigations, medical/mental health occurrences, facility notifications, unlocked doors, and for any situation where Campus Police involvement is necessary.
- Summons emergency personnel by phone or radio when necessary.
- Receive, screen, take messages from and refer incoming calls to the appropriate individual and/or department with mandatory return call information.
- Maintain a welcoming demeanor towards the CCCC community, guests, and visitors.
- Contact facilities management regarding emergency repairs, snow removal, etc.
- Escalates uncommon situations to immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Six months of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in law enforcement, in a governmental police force or in work involving the protection or security of buildings, equipment or people as a major duty, or an equivalent combination of experience plus an associate or higher degree with a major in police science, law enforcement or criminal justice.
- Current, valid Massachusetts Driver's license.
- Excellent written communication skills, ability to clearly read and verbally communicate in English, and follow written and oral instructions or directives.
- Excellent communication, customer service and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to utilize sound judgment and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful and emergency situations, including when subjected to verbal and physical abuse.
- Ability to walk long distances, stand for long periods, work alone, work/patrol in adverse weather conditions, and walk up and down steps effortlessly.
- Ability to perform professionally when assisting persons with disabilities or physical/emotional challenges.
- Physical capability of carrying and using emergency apparatus such as a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, traffic cones or external cardiac defibrillator.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively listen and resolve a wide range of issues that may arise.
- Ability to establish a rapport with people from different ethnic, cultural, and/or economic backgrounds.
- Computer, radio, and technological skills, sufficient to learn to operate necessary equipment.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule and work mandatory overtime if necessary.
- Ability to work with other members of the department.

- Ability to ride a mountain bike.
- AED/CPR/First Aid Certification.
- FEMA ICS 100 certification.
