Goodwin University seeks a Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Goodwin University is a private, non-profit university located in East Hartford, Connecticut, and awards academic degrees from certificate programs up to master’s degrees. 

The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) will serve as the University’s Chief Academic Officer, under the leadership of the University’s President.  This position will supervise the academic Deans, and engage closely with the University’s Faculty Senate

The duties of this position include:

Provide administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for all academic activities and faculty affairs Support and provide guidance to Goodwin’s Faculty Senate Attend and actively participate on the President’s cabinet Collaborate with vice presidents as it pertains to student behavior and engagement, accreditation, enrollment and fiscal responsibilities, etc. Supervise three academic deans and support their respective schools Serve as chair of the University’s appeal board Participate in and provide integral, current insight into program evaluation and development Oversee faculty recruitment, hiring, retention, evaluation and promotion processes Execute proper fiscal management of program development, departmental budgets, and facilities needs across all academic areas Address, mediate, and guide supervisees through resolution of staff and faculty concerns, as needed Ensure and enforce compliance with university policies Act as liaison to Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee Partnering with colleagues at University of Bridgeport Participate in accreditation processes Other duties as assigned Qualifications Doctorate from an accredited college or university in a related field Minimum of ten years of experience as an administrator, including at least four year as a senior level administrator; and a minimum of five years of experience as a faculty member Demonstrated success in progressive academic roles in the field of higher education Success in a management role involved in creating academic policy and curriculum development Extensive teamwork experience, including growth and development as a leader Commitment to creativity, flexibility, and innovation Sense of personal responsibility to fulfill the University’s Mission Commitment to progression of Goodwin’s central teaching pedagogy: Universal Design for Learning (This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee.
