Job Details

The State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) invites applications for an Interim President of Dickinson State University (DSU). DSU is one of 11 public colleges and universities (five community colleges, four regional universities, and two research universities) comprising the North Dakota University System (NDUS). Reporting to the NDUS Chancellor, the Interim DSU President will administer the affairs of the institution in accordance with SBHE policies, plans, budgets, and standards, including the management and expenditure of all institutional funds, within budgetary and other limitations imposed by law or by the SBHE. In addition, the Interim President is the chief executive officer of the institution and a member of the Chancellor's executive staff. The Interim President is responsible for all matters concerning the institution and is an advisor to the Chancellor in matters of inter-institutional policy and administration. The interim assignment is expected until the effective date of the appointment of the permanent DSU President.

 

 

 

The Interim President of DSU will have the opportunity to lead a dedicated community of teachers and learners situated in a dynamic economic environment. The SBHE and university community seek a dynamic, forward-thinking individual eager to build on a foundation of vigorous academic pursuit and vital community outreach.

 

 

 

The core strategic responsibility of the successful candidate will be to sustain DSU’s vision of providing high quality, accessible programs; to promote excellence in teaching and learning; to support scholarly and creative activities; and to provide service relevant to the economy, health, and quality of life for the citizens of the state of North Dakota. The successful candidate must lead DSU’s team of faculty and staff to develop and execute strategies that:

 

 

 

Align with the SBHE’s strategy for the NDUS, with focus on access and affordability; Promote innovation and collaboration both on campus and across the NDUS; Enhance academic programs to meet the needs of students and the changing economic demands; Embrace shared governance to engage and empower individuals at all levels in developing and advancing a common vision; Attract students both from within North Dakota and out-of-state to grow and sustain enrollments;  Invest in a strong campus community while also leveraging technology and non-traditional delivery methods; Ensure academic quality and high levels of attainment for a diverse and growing student body; Commitment to DSU Core Values of integrity, accessibility, excellence, inquiry & innovation;  Respect for faculty/staff contributions and commitment to shared governance; Build relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, staff, alumni, the DSU Heritage Foundation, K-12 education, business and industry, community leaders, and the SBHE; Commit to sound financial management and practices; and, Foster a campus culture of integrity, trust, and accountability.
