Job Summary
This Professional Research Assistant position is available to start September 2024 in the laboratory of Dr. Susanna Molas at the Institute for Behavioral Genetics (IBG) at the University of Colorado Boulder. Seeking a highly motivated individual to support all aspects of research in systems neuroscience.

Who We Are
The primary vision of the Molas lab seeks to understand the neuronal circuits and mechanisms controlling novelty responses and adaptive learning processes with repeated exposures, by using a multidisciplinary research strategy with cutting-edge tools that integrate circuit mapping, gene expression analysis, photometry recordings, optogenetics, together with mouse behavioral paradigms.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- The ideal candidate has organization and communication skills as well as experience in mouse behavior, mouse breeding, and neuroscience laboratory techniques (e.g., brain tissue sectioning and processing, fluorescent imaging, genotyping, stereotaxic surgery, etc.)
- Familiarity with any of the typical techniques of the lab, such as fiber photometry, immunohistochemisty, viral tract tracing, optogenetics, chemogenetics, and mouse behavior is desired but not required.
- The candidate will also have additional responsibilites of lab orders, keeping a good inventory, and supporting experimental procedures.

- The candidate will commit to the position for a period of at least one and a half to two years.
What We Can Offer
- This is a 50%, benefits eligible position, with the possibility of expanding to 100%, after initial trial period in lab.
- Annual salary of $20,000 to $25,000, subjected to prior experience.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related scientific field.
What You Will Need
- Previous neuroscience-related lab experience.
- Most importantly, we seek an individual with a strong desire to learn and perform neuroscience-related research along with characteristics involving attention to detail, organization, problem solving and communication skills, commitment to a safe learning/research environment, and flexibility in work schedule to meet experimental needs.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Some experience with animal colonies management, histology, and lab organization.
