About the School of Engineering, Science & Technology

The School of Engineering, Science, and Technology (SEST) is one of five Schools and Colleges at Central. SEST houses eleven (11) departments located in six different buildings, including a new 80,000 square foot Applied Innovation Hub. With three hundred (300) full- and part-time faculty, the School serves students from diverse backgrounds by providing high-quality educational experiences in STEM disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate levels through excellent instruction, research, outreach, and innovative programs. The School is a leader in developing cross-disciplinary initiatives that combine and expand the talents of students and faculty across the university. Industry partners regularly work with students and faculty in our state-of-the-art engineering, science, and technology labs to engage in research and design projects. Our graduates are well-prepared for a multidisciplinary world thanks to a flexible and diverse curriculum, informed through strong employer partnerships, which meets the needs for a well-educated and skilled workforce.

Position Profile

The Associate Dean assists the Dean and the Dean’s Office team with a range of administrative functions related to planning and resources. The successful candidate responsibilities are but are not limited to managing course schedules and faculty load, taking a leadership role in strategic planning, conducting outreach and community engagement activities, providing assistance to faculty in external grant development, assisting the Dean with program assessment and accreditation activities, facilitating new academic program initiatives, and serving as a key contact point for dual/concurrent enrollment and transfer articulation agreements.

Education

Doctoral degree in a discipline represented in the school, higher education administration, or closely related field.

Experience and Training
  • Seven years of relevant experience in higher education.
  • Four years of the experience must have been in academic administration.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in an environment requiring the ability to relate to students at different levels of academic progress preferred.
  • Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.

Compensation and Employee Benefits

The Associate Dean is compensated at the Administrator VII salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
