BCCC invites qualified candidates to apply for our part-time faculty position to teach American Sign Language courses. Part-time appointments are made on a semester-by-semester (as needed) basis Responsibilities/Duties
BCCC invites qualified candidates to apply for our part-time faculty position to teach American Sign Language courses. Part-time appointments are made on a semester-by-semester (as needed) basis Responsibilities/Duties
- Teach assigned courses, which may include day, night, or weekend courses.
- Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise.
- Fulfill responsibilities for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.
- Master”s Degree and a minimum 2 years of ASL full-time professional experience
- Strong foundation of ASL and ASL pedagogy
- Extensive knowledge of Deaf culture
- ASLTA certification (American Sign Language Teachers Association) or ASLPI score of 4.0 or higher (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview)
- 3 years ASL teaching experience
