Job Description:
Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Outreach, School and Career Programming, the Associate Director of Alumni Outreach and Community Impact (AD) will support regional alumni programming and communications in key cities lending assistance to volunteer community leaders. The AD coordinates special programs, including the regional spring community service program. As the Office of Alumni Relations’ liaison to alumni across the United States and internationally, the AD will leverage virtual and in-person modalities, providing customer support, driving alumni engagement, and stewarding relationships. The AD collaborates with other members of the alumni relations team, colleagues within University Advancement, and campus partners to support divisional goals, as well as school/unit alumni initiatives.
Essential Functions:

- Establish and maintain relationships with alumni volunteers in
domestic and international regions.
- Strengthen alumni leadership and develop a pipeline of
volunteers to streamline the recruitment and onboarding of new
leadership.
- Train and steward regional volunteers.
- In collaboration with alumni leaders, coordinate the planning,
marketing, and implementation of various programs, services, and
volunteer opportunities for alumni, in alignment with strategic
areas of focus.
- Attend programs and events whenever possible, serving as a
representative of American University.
- Serve as the primary liaison between university offices,
particularly with Leadership Annual Giving, the Schools and
Colleges, Admissions, Athletics and Recreation, and the central
events staff, to identify engagement gaps and streamline all
existing initiatives related to students and alumni in domestic and
international regions .
- Collaborate with development staff, including annual giving
colleagues, to connect alumni prospects and facilitate giving
opportunities.
- Write, edit, and organize various communication mediums,
including web content, direct mailings, Alumni Update
newsletter content, social media posts, and any other communication
vehicles geared towards affinity engagement opportunities.
- Implement and execute data analysis and reporting on alumni
demographics based on existing data, including but not limited to
location, age, affinity, interests, etc.
- Utilize data to recommend strategic alumni engagement
opportunities in domestic and international AU communities.
- Foster professional relationships to gain knowledge and skills
through networking with those who lead similar programs at other
universities, attending applicable seminars/workshops and
maintaining a current awareness of best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Alumni
Outreach, School and Career Programming to enhance the mission and
goals of University Advancement.

- $60,000-$70,000 annually.
- Full-Time.
- 35-hour a week.
- May supervise one-three student worker(s) each semester.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Some travel and evening/weekend events are necessary.
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work
independently.
- Must have proficiency with Excel, Power Point, and LinkedIn.
Prior experience with Ellucian CRM and Engaging Networks is
desirable.
- Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal
communication skills.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with individuals at all
levels of an organization.
