Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $22.75 to $24.00 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
Position Summary Information
Summary
Performs a variety of office support and/or clerical duties for the CBU College of Engineering such as composing a variety of standard documents and correspondence, relaying and resolving routine telephone and/or walk-up inquiries, scheduling calendar items and meetings, processing forms, performing data entry, and establishing and maintaining records. This is an 11 month position each year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages processes for hiring Student Workers, Teaching Assistants and Adjunct faculty.
- Assists in meeting the various students’ needs.
- Assists faculty with room reservation requests.
- Stores student records (attendance and grades) and maintains confidentiality of records.
- Processes and distributes incoming mail for the College of Engineering as needed.
- Composes and types routine correspondence including reminders to faculty members, communications with the Registrar’s Office, and announcements on Blackboard and Brightsign.
- Organizes and maintains file system and files correspondence and other records.
- Assists faculty with syllabi and textbook requisitions.
- Assists the College of Engineering with gathering and sending information to the Registrar’s Office such as CSWs, CRBs, Final Exam changes, and catalog changes.
- Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, reserves and prepares facilities, and takes meeting minutes.
- Assists Associate Dean and Department Chairs with course schedule preparations and submissions.
- Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.
- Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
- Assists faculty with requesting keys, door signs, ordering office supplies and arranging for building maintenance.
- Assists Associate Dean and Department Chairs with SIM requests.
- Reviews Student Worker timecards and maintains the Student Worker budget sheet.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving
direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

- Knowledge of standard budgeting, and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
