This position is responsible for helping develop the accelerated, hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program at Edgewood College. The individual should demonstrate competence in fieldwork education, teaching, and curriculum development. This is a full-time faculty position and has administrative, academic, service, scholarship responsibilities, and clinical practice.
The incumbent must reside or be willing to relocate to one of the following states upon hire: Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah or Virginia.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, monitor, and refine the occupation-centered fieldwork education components of the curriculum.
- Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during fieldwork education.
- Evaluate students’ performance, in cooperation with other faculty, and determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and the progress within the curriculum.
- Educate students, fieldwork educators, and academic faculty about fieldwork education. Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical, and professional behavior, and current occupational therapy practice.
- Provide documented records and assessment of fieldwork education component.
- Actively engage core faculty in planning, implementing, and assessing processes associated with fieldwork education.
- Serve as a liaison between the occupational therapy program and the clinical education site.
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
- Earned terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching or Doctor of Occupational therapy degree with specialization in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in occupational therapy clinical education.
- Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.
- Occupational therapist with an active, unrestricted license, eligible for licensure in Wisconsin.
- Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
- Familiarity with teaching, advising, and mentoring students in a hybrid learning environment.
- Participation in immersive labs on campus one-two times per semester.
- Experience consistent with the assignment of faculty rank.
