Position Summary

The Residence Life Manager ( RLM ) fosters a vibrant, inclusive, and educational residential community for 500-650 students. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the RLM oversees residential housing operations, develops and evaluates programs for resident growth, manages student staff and custodial services, assists with budget management, and coordinates special projects like summer conferences.

Duties and Responsibilities

Staff Coordination and Training:
  • Supervise up to 10 Resident Advisors and Graduate Resident Directors.
  • Provide training and development for student staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and assist with RA selection and training.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
Residence Hall and Custodial Management:
  • Oversee resident check-in/check-out processes and hall openings/closings.
  • Respond to emergencies and enforce policies.
  • Supervise custodial staff and inspect residence hall areas for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Promote restorative values and provide proactive education.
  • Manage relationships with students needing support, outreach for mental health issues, and mandatory reporting procedures under Title IX policies.
  • Participate in on-call duty rotation and severe weather coordination.
Student Engagement and Outreach:
  • Support programming efforts using the residential curriculum.
  • Maintain visibility on campus and participate in events.
  • Initiate interactions with students and connect them with resources.
Summer Conference Coordination:
  • Oversee summer conference housing arrangements.
Operational Efficiency and Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Improve operations, streamline processes, and enhance customer service.
  • Communicate regularly with the Assistant Director.
  • Collaborate with Housing Operations for smooth residence hall operations.
  • Participate in committees and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Administer procedures, maintain records, and advocate for residents’ needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
On-Call Schedule:
  • Manage and develop an on-call schedule and ensure staff preparedness.
  • Document and review on-call incidents for improvement.
Minimum Job Requirements

EDUCATION : Bachelor’s Degree or two years of residential life experience, including one year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education or related field.
  • Experience in residential life supervision, education programming, and crisis management.
  • Knowledge of Simplicity Residence and Advocate software.
Special Conditions for Eligibility

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :
  • Flexible schedule; office hours will be provided by supervisor.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • On-campus living with a furnished apartment provided.
  • University cell phone and after-hours response.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and follow fire drill procedures.
  • Team collaboration, budget management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
  • Walking for extended periods and extensive indoor/outdoor activity.
  • Physical work, including heavy lifting over 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to hazards or physical risks and moderate exposure to unusual elements.
Working Environment

Work is in a indoor/outdoor office setting.
Work with frequent interruptions

$52,000
