Essential Duties Summary
Management:
- Assist with the implementation of short and long-term strategies, goals, and objectives in support of the unit’s strategic plan and the University’s mission. This includes the development and implementation of annual plans as well as performance measures to evaluate the effectiveness of all aspects of the Major Gifts program.
- Ensure all development efforts increase donor support and enhance the potential for future donor engagement.
- Manages an annual budget linked with the individual giving program’s priorities.
- Communicate a broad understanding of and commitment to TSU (Texas Southern University) mission, vision, and programs.
- Collaborates with leadership and fundraising colleagues to create and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with university priorities, ensuring revenue goals are met. Fosters positive, lasting relationships through personal contact with donors that produce repeated and increased annual, major, and planned gifts.
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards’ major donors. Develops relationships with key donors and implement strategies that will bring gifts to TSU either through direct solicitation or by working with the Associate Vice President, Vice President, President, Board members, and volunteers as they contact prospective donors.
- Maintains an active donor visit schedule; establish and meets mutually agreed upon annual goals for dollars raised and calls made on donors and prospects.
- Assists the Associate Vice President of Development with establishment of fundraising goals.
- Oversees the regular revision of the prospect pipeline, all college-based and major gift officers’ portfolios.
- Assign gift officers to designated regions, and monitor gift officers’ travel.
- Completes monthly fundraising reviews with college-based and major gift officers and develops strategies to increase major gifts.
- Assist with the identification and qualification of major donors by conducting research and analysis to determine their philanthropic interests and capacity to give to TSU in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Development monthly.
- Prepares persuasive proposals, presentations, and reports tailored to individual donors, to solicit gifts, highlighting the impact of their contributions on the university’s initiatives.
- Works with the Development Director Donor Relations & Stewardship to implement effective stewardship plans to recognize and acknowledge donors for their support, ensuring their continued engagement and satisfaction with TSU .
- Works closely with the university leadership, faculty, and staff to align fundraising efforts with academic and institutional objectives.
- Attends and actively engages in university events, including alumni gatherings, donor receptions, and fundraising campaigns, which may require travel, evenings, weekends, and potential holiday work.
- Work with the Executive Director of Advancement Services to maintain accurate and up-to-date donors in the university’s CRM system, tracking interactions, gifts, solicitations, proposals, and progress toward fundraising goals.
- Provides leadership to the development of frontline fundraisers and collaboration with the Executive Director of Advancement Services and the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement & Annual Fund through a team-oriented environment.
