This position plays a pivotal role in the core mission of the regional center, focusing on the recruitment and development of a diverse community of faculty members to facilitate educational programming across the Northern Michigan region. This role is key in supporting partnership development with community colleges and industry partners to attract experienced faculty for local programming needs and oversee talent management and faculty development.

Salary & Benefits:
Minimum Starting salary of $60,000; commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with educational and professional organizations to expand the pool of potential faculty candidates.
  • Identify, attract, and recruit highly qualified community faculty members with expertise. Oversee the hiring process for faculty and ensure appropriate credentials are maintained as outlined by the university/college program chair.
  • Provide ongoing supervisory support and mentorship to faculty members, including guidance on effective teaching methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth among faculty members.
  • Provide service and support to faculty as needed. Assess and maintain appropriate levels of teaching capacity and talent needs across new and existing programs.
  • Cultivate a sense of belonging and community within the Southwest Michigan region through regular communication, collaboration, and networking opportunities.
  • Provide timely communication and feedback to faculty about programs, student concerns, and other relevant information that impacts their role.
  • Serve as a liaison between GVSU and community colleges, faculty members, and other stakeholders within the region.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success team to scale recruitment, retention, completion, and pathway expansion in Northern Michigan.
  • Assist in the strategic planning and vision of the regional center, to include program expansion and pathway development with key stakeholders.
  • Support leadership in the development of program needs assessments and through strategic partnerships with community colleges, industry partners, and community organizations in Northern Michigan. Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of at least two (2) years of relevant experience in higher education, program planning, public administration, or human services-related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in higher education and/or academic programming.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in Northern Michigan region.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Team and/or project management experience.
  • Teaching or leadership experience at the K-12, higher education, or corporate level.
  • Strong professional connections to the Northern Michigan community, industry, and educational partners.
