Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a dedicated Program Director for the Respiratory Therapy program within the Department of Allied Health. This role is pivotal in coordinating and facilitating the program's laboratory, administrative, and recruitment activities. The Program Director will oversee the skills lab and simulation areas, ensuring the essential hands-on components of the curriculum are effectively delivered. Responsibilities include acting as a simulation technician, managing the care and procurement of equipment and supplies, and promoting program spaces through tours and demonstrations for various stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves financial and administrative support, tracking budgets, and managing purchases. The Program Director will play a crucial role in recruitment and marketing events, managing selective admission processes, and organizing information sessions, interviews, orientations, and graduation ceremonies. This position also requires compiling data for accreditation and assisting with the program advisory board. Summary of Responsibilities


  • Clinical Lab: Works closely with program faculty regarding the vision and mission for the lab. Forecasts current and future equipment requirements and student needs within lab/simulation courses. Supervises lab setup and takedown of equipment, supplies, and other resources as needed, while minimizing student/faculty downtime during scheduled lab sessions. Using current manufacturer recommendations, ensures function tests during setup and rehab during breakdown. Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment as needed. Maintains inventory and working knowledge of patient simulators, patient monitors, skills trainers, and other training equipment. Assists with scheduling lab instructional sessions and open lab periods. Coordinates, plans, and sets up practical tests including manikins, equipment, and supplies.
  • Admission Management, Marketing, and Recruitment: Coordinates student applications and admission management for the program including marketing, recruitment, website management, planning and execution of information sessions, applicant processing, and pre-testing. Coordinates interview days and orientation of accepted cohort. Reviews all verified applications with advising and the transfer office and communicates with all applicants. Processes post-program acceptance documentation for all students including immunizations, background checks, and drug screening. Manages wait list and admissions changes. Attends informational events on campus and in the community to promote the Respiratory Therapy program. Maintains program social media and websites. Creates marketing strategies and events in cooperation with the Department Chair and faculty.
  • Financial & Administrative: Coordinates the preparation and submission of various reports and documents, including new hire paperwork completion and submission, requisitions, purchase orders, index tracking, and reconciliations. Acquires supplies following university procurement procedures to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the labs. Establishes, updates, and maintains files on inventory ordering, receiving, billing, and distribution. Develops budget plans and expenditure reports and provides guidance to assure compliance regarding proper use of funds, purchasing rules, and pro card expenses. Prepares and manages lab budget based on faculty input and forecasted inventory needs. Participates in grant preparation with faculty to augment inventory of equipment. Manages, prepares, and submits ePAFs and eSAFs for instructors. Provides administrative support for the program, meetings, and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally-accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field. A combination of education and full-time work experience in a related field totaling a minimum of six years may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with lab/simulation equipment and education.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Licenses or Certifications:
Licensure in healthcare field (if appropriate and applicable)
