The starting faculty salary range for 2021-22 is $58,157 – $66,736 for a 1.0 FTE, 168-day, academic year contract. The 2022-23 salary schedule and academic calendar has yet to be determined. New faculty will be contracted for 168-day contract plus additional 3 days to attend Fall Term Instructional Strategies Institute training. LBCC offers a comprehensive benefit package .

This position is subject to Article 31 of the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. LBCC is an Equal Opportunity Educator and Employer. Position Title: Early Childhood Education Faculty Division/Department: Education/Human Development and Family Sciences Location Albany Campus, Albany, OR Job Summary:
Fully engage as a teacher and faculty member in the fulfillment of the college’s mission. This includes: teaching classes in the Education/Human Development and Family Sciences department; recruiting and advising students; serving on campus and departmental committees and task forces; and engaging in continued professional development. This position also serves as the Program Chair for the Early Childhood Education degree which includes fostering partnerships and placements with community organizations and employers; collaborating with statewide educational organizations; providing leadership both internally and in our service counties on quality early childhood education; developing and reviewing curriculum to promote student learning; and conducting program review. Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or a minimum of 27 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Experience in teaching children in the birth to eight years age-range. Experience teaching, training, or mentoring adults who work with young children. Teaching experience with adults or at the community college or university level. Evidence of student-centered teaching and commitment to student success. Experience with varied modalities of instruction. Experience in program development and community partnerships.

Knowledge of current Early Childhood Education, developmentally appropriate practice, theories, research and trends, such as creating project-based curricula and environments. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion such as culturally sensitive care or bi-lingual curricula. Preferred Qualifications:

Work is performed in an office, classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards. Must be able to operate keyboard or other office equipment. Requires ability to recognize alphanumeric characters. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and students. Essential Duties:
  1. Plan, develop and teach early childhood and human development courses using approved course outlines and student-centered learning as foundations.
  2. Assess student learning at the course, program, and institutional level.
  3. Lead practicum experience. Collaborate with and provide training to (as requested) practicum sites and on-campus childcare program.
  4. Assume academic advising responsibilities. Develop and maintain an understanding of college processes, curricula, and technology to be an effective advisor.
  5. Act as Program Chair for the Early Childhood Education program including leading the conventing and work of the program advisory committee; participating in statewide organizations such as the Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children ( OAEYC ); disseminating information to part-time faculty; high school student recruitment; working with the department chair to recruit qualified part-time instructors; completing program review; and overseeing the program website.
  6. Develop the program in response to community needs, state and national trends, university partners, and program reviews. Work closely with educational organizations including Family Connections to ensure articulation of program, courses, and curriculum. Work with state and local leaders to create innovative strategies to build pathways to credentials and degrees to support the community’s need for a diverse and high quality early childhood workforce.
  7. Participate in the recruitment, advising, and retention of students. Prioritize program completion.
  8. Apply for external funds as appropriate, and manage the administration and reporting of external funds, including student scholarships.
  9. Maintain competency and currency in the subject matter of courses taught and in teaching skills. Maintain an appropriate knowledge and utilization of professional and teaching technology.
  10. Assume responsibility for oversight of the learning environment and the appropriate use of instructional facilities.
  11. Participate as a member of the Education/Human Development and Family Sciences team, and promote a spirit of collegiality within the college community.
  12. Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC .
