Job Description:

The Psychology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Behavioral Neuroscience beginning Fall 2022. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, and they must demonstrate the potential for developing an active research program that involves undergraduates. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester. Courses taught would include Behavioral Neuroscience, Research Methods, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach additional courses such as Neurophysiology, Physiology, Learning, Statistics, Sensation and Perception, or General Psychology.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience, Neuroscience, or a related field, but candidates who expect their degrees by Fall 2022 will also be considered.

Additional Information:

The department consists of 11 full-time faculty representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center, suitable for animal or human-subjects research in Behavioral Neuroscience. There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty research and a growing institutional emphasis on research in the health sciences. Faculty routinely present at regional, national, and international conferences, frequently with undergraduate students as co-authors. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the College of Arts & Sciences, and our new interdisciplinary major in Behavioral Neuroscience is rapidly growing as well. The salary and benefits for the position are highly competitive.
