Loyola University Chicago is seeking a Lecturer, GIS Lab Director to teach 2 courses in Geographic Information Systems ( GIS ) each semester (4 per year), including Intro to GIS, Advanced GIS, and Remote Sensing; develop and teach a new advanced graduate and undergraduate course in Cloud-based Spatial Data Management; assess and revise the graduate GIS certificate program; develop and implement an undergraduate minor in GIS ; direct the GIS Laboratory by consulting and assisting all researchers on their GIS projects; facilitate academic collaboration between Loyola University’s GIS community and GIS communities in other universities; hiring, training and overseeing 2-4 GIS Assistants; managing all hardware and GIS ESRI software and licensees for the University and GIS Lab; and managing the institute’s data acquisition and database system integration efforts. Qualifications
PhD in Geography plus 2 years related experience. Prior experience must include: teach spatial data science, i.e., data structure, Earth reference systems, data modeling, relevant computer libraries, and vector/raster data processing in the R environment (2 years); Teach spatial data visualization and analysis by using Cloud-based platforms including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro (1 year); teach and perform GIS -based quantitative social/economic data modeling and analysis, e.g., point pattern analysis and spatial interpolation (2 years); teach and apply GIS -based spatial database management system and Esri’s data models (e.g., natural resources and ecology) (2 years).
