Job Description

An adjunct position is open in the Master’s in Education / Literacy Program at Providence College. The literacy program prepares teachers for certification as PK-12 reading specialists/literacy consultants. The open position is for EDU832: Evidence-Based Practices in Middle/Secondary Literacy Instruction. This course presents reading and writing instruction from a Science of Reading/structured literacy perspective and in relation to content area learning. The course is offered annually in the Spring semester and meets in person once a week on the Providence College campus. A 10-hour clinical experience takes place during class time at one of the program’s partnership schools.

Essential Duties

This position includes the following expectations:

· graduate teaching in the Spring semester of each academic year
· participation in program faculty meetings 3 times per year
· participation in program accreditation preparation and visits
· participation in ongoing program improvement efforts

Education and Experience Required

A Master’s in Education is required for this position with certification and experience as a middle/secondary reading specialist preferred
