Pre-Clinical/Clinical Faculty, Periodontics (Evergreen position)
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Responsible for providing didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical periodontal content and will supervise pre-clinical and clinical student learning experiences in the discipline. Pacific faculty engage in teaching, scholarship and service.

Responsibilities include any of the following:
I. Teaching Curriculum
- Didactic instruction involving periodontal pre-clinical content.
- Provide simulation exercises to support the pre-clinical courses.
- Participate in outcomes assessment, including student and peer evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation.
- Participate in mandatory faculty calibration and development in pre-clinical area.
II. Patient Care
- Supervise students providing clinical care of patients including periodontal surgery.
- Participate in mandatory faculty calibration and development in clinical areas.
Il. Collaboration and Service
- Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities.
- In addition to the traditional expectations for faculty members, the culture of humanism and collaboration is especially important.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Requirements for a comprehensive periodontal examination.
- Universal and area-specific instrumentation.
- Pre-clinical and clinical teaching methodology.
Education:
- DDS/DMD or international equivalent, completion of training from an accredited dental school program.
- Certificate of proficiency in periodontics
Licenses/Certifications
- Active license to practice dentistry
- Valid CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to:
- Communicate effective with a diverse population of patients. students, staff, faculty and administration.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a group setting.
- Reflect, self-assess, and think critically.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.
Experience:
- Previous teaching or practice experience is preferred
- Minimum of one year practice experience preferred
Other:
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

- Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to teaching and demonstration.
- Must be able to operate controls, use high-speed or low-speed dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use hand instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures.
