Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Religion in the Americas in the Department of Religious Studies for the 2018-2019 academic year. The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in hand (by July 2018) with specialization in Religion in the Americas along with proficiency in some combination of African-American Religions, Native American religious traditions, African Spirituality in the Americas, women/gender and religion, religion and the law, religion and politics, and religion and the environment. The department also seeks candidates with broad training in the academic study of religion. The successful candidate will teach a foundation/survey course on religion in the United States, our introductory course "Encountering Religion in Its Global Context", and three other courses to be negotiated with the department chair.
