Associate Professor or Professor/Chair English

The Chair of the English Department is the academic and chief administrative officer of the department. She/he is charged with leading the faculty and staff in advancing the department's research/scholarship, teaching, and service mission. The Chair is responsible for leading recruitment, retention, and assessment of programs within the department. She/he works with constituents to develop the departmental vision, develop a strategic plan, and achieve departmental goals. The Chair is also charged with promoting the Department through alumni and donor engagement, and ensuring the quality and competitiveness of its graduates. The Chair reports to and works collaboratively with the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
