This CoE and CoST collaboration is to enhance and diversify interdisciplinary expertise in AI. The four faculty members forming the cluster are expected to establish a world-class interdisciplinary core in AI, contributing to the University's research endeavors in cybersecurity, cyber-physical systems, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, large language models, generative AI, natural language processing, robotics, game design.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with cluster hires as well as other faculty, establish and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program in AI, direct the research activities of both undergraduate and graduate students, and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Other responsibilities include service to the department, College, University, and the community.
The cluster hiring initiative is grounded on close collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science (CS) and Computer Systems Technology (CST). Successful candidates are expected to foster strong partnerships with existing AI research programs within the College of Engineering and the College of Science and Technology. In addition, this initiative aims to extend the influence of AI beyond these colleges, fostering collaborations across various departments at NCAT and beyond.
This position's core responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses, conducting impactful research, advising and mentoring students, participating in recruitment efforts, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in scholarly activities, and fulfilling all requirements for tenure.
