Summary
The Senior Clinical Applications Associate provides comprehensive technical and operational support for clinical information systems, products and services to Baylor College of Medicine clinical operations and Baylor affiliated institutions. Performs project management and implementation activities for clinical systems related to the clinical practice. The Senior Clinical Applications Associate will work primarily with Ambulatory applications; however, responsibilities are cross-functional to support other clinical modules. This includes strong collaboration with the Quality Team and physician leaders to support Quality metrics, reporting, dashboards and health maintenance in Epic. This role rotates on-call and help desk tier 2 support. The Department of Information Technology at Baylor College of Medicine provides technology services, support and partnership in delivering key values to the mission of Baylor College of Medicine.
The Clinical Team is a cross-functional team that is responsible for supporting multiple Epic modules (Ambulatory, MyChart, Beacon, Willow, CareEverywhere, EpicCare Link, Healthy Planet, Cosmos) in collaboration with other Clinical Technology teams to support patient access, revenue and 3rd party integration and interfaces. The candidate must be willing to multitask, eager to learn, and demonstrate accountability. They must have strong communication skills and demonstrate competence in communicating and conducting presentations and demonstrations with operational leaders, physicians and clinical staff. This role requires collaboration and teamwork and the ability to collaborate across IT teams.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area. The position requires occasional onsite which may include a weekly meeting.
Job Duties
- Provides application/database analysis and support, system integration, interface integration or customized application solutions for clinical applications used throughout the Baylor clinical departments.
- Designs, develops and maintains custom clinical content to enhance workflows and efficiency utilizing the electronic medical records system and/or application software as assigned.
- Performs application monitoring and planning, utilization tracking and reporting.
- Manages projects for enhancements and automation of clinical workflows, Quality Metrics and Health Maintenance.
- Provides secondary support to team members to assist with supporting other application modules as needed.
- Implements and supports system upgrades, enhancements, and modifications. Coordinates with Baylor-IT personnel and Baylor affiliated IT departments.
- Acts as operational/data liaison with Baylor departments to identify and resolve operational workflows issues related to technology, and issues related to data, data integrity, and interfaces.
- Provides technical and helpdesk support to Baylor clients and Baylor affiliated clients using or planning to use computing resources as needed.
- Manages projects related to CareEverywhere, EpicCare Link and Epic Ambulatory Modules.
- Collaborates with operational leaders to enhance interoperability.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Epic EHR required.
- Epic Certification (prefer Ambulatory, Healthy Planet, Cosmos, Reporting, BPA, Registry, Roster management and rule build experience).
- Experience with quality metrics.
- Previous clinical experience is a plus!
