Job Description
The College of Science & Engineering at St. Cloud State University is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a Student Relations Director position. The Student Relations Director develops and assesses effective strategies to improve the experiences and successes of students within the college and school. The position is a resource to both students and faculty in the areas of recruitment and retention; general advising; student complaints; student conduct; and academic petitions. The position is designed to provide recommendations and innovative solutions to solve complex student issues.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, some evenings may be required

Job Description

- Coordinate general academic advising activities to foster
student success
- Manage student conduct, student complaints, student petitions,
and student appeals to advance the student experience
- Develop, support, and assess initiatives designed to increase
recruitment and retention for the College and its programs to
support program and College growth/sustainability
- Serve as a liaison/resource to the College and the University
to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation of relevant
policies, procedures, and practices
- Master’s degree in College Counseling, Higher Education
Administration or related field
- One year professional experience in advising, student affairs,
and/or recruitment and retention, academic affairs or related
experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage in the best practices and
procedures of student advising/counseling and higher education
administration
- Demonstrated skills in collaborating with multiple functional
areas to advance student success
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal written and oral
communication skills
- Demonstrated skill in writing concise, accurate, and
professional reports
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including
data interpretation
- Evidence of demonstrated ability to work with persons from
culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of the theoretical principles of advising/counseling
and higher education
- Three years professional work experience at a state college or
university in student counseling and/or higher education
administration
- Demonstrated ability to effectively create and deliver
professional presentations for large and diverse groups
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally with varied
external organizations/entities
