Description

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.

Our department is in the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences , which unites 9 departments dedicated to fundamental research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. We are looking for a candidate who will complement our faculty working on mechanistic approaches to fundamental problems in biology.

We are primarily seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor position. However, outstanding candidates at other levels will also be considered.

The expected salary/base pay range for this position is: $125,000 to $130,000. The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank.

2. Philosophy, relevant personal experiences, past contributions, and future plans for your role as a mentor, teacher, and colleague. (one page).

3. Research Vision - One paragraph (up to 350 words) summarizing the guiding vision for your future research program.

4. Research Program (3-5 pages).

5. Two (2) most significant publications including a short statement (100-150 words) for each, describing significance and impact.

Additionally, please arrange to have 3 confidential letters of recommendation uploaded to Interfolio by your referees.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
