Internal to University of Georgia Professor Search
The Associate Vice President ( AVPR ) for Strategic Research Growth is responsible for cultivating and supporting interdisciplinary research teams across campus to advance and realize the full potential of current and future integrative teams for the growth of UGA’s intellectual capacity and grant funding support. The AVPR oversees large proposal support and internal seed grant programs to foster strategic research growth as well as serving as a liaison and catalyst for developing new centers, institutes, and strategic initiatives for growing interdisciplinary research among other areas of responsibility.
The AVPR is responsible for leading the growth and refinement of a UGA environment that provides a comprehensive, coordinated support framework for convergent faculty teams. This framework includes the means to strategically plan, initiate, facilitate, and augment the formation of new and strengthened convergent teams. The AVPR also advocates for best practices in professional development, team training, team support, and similar activities.
The role will include serving as a liaison and catalyst for cultivating and developing new centers, institutes, and strategic initiatives for growing interdisciplinary research.
The incumbent will serve as the Vice President of Research’s (VPR’s) liaison with select centers and institutes in collaboration with the other APVRs.

The AVPR works closely with the VPR and Sponsored Program teams, Innovation Gateway, business staff, the Provost’s Office, UGA Colleges and Schools, the Graduate School, and centers and institutes on campus to execute duties.
The Office of Research is, by necessity, a highly matrixed environment. The AVPR will work in close collaboration with other Office of Research leaders to support the University research enterprise.
The position will be time-limited (up to three years) and is only open to tenured full professors at UGA .
Special Instructions to Applicants
Applications submitted by August 31, 2024, will receive full consideration. Candidates interested in both AVPR roles should apply for each position separately. Letters of interest are limited to two pages; however, CVs should be comprehensive.
