Program Director Sports Leadership and Coaching



Job Summary

As the leader for the Sports Leadership and Wellness program, the Program Director is responsible for the overall success of the academic program, including supervising faculty and the development (at the turnkey level), implementation, and ongoing evaluation of curriculum. The Program Director will actively build and foster supportive working relationships across the College and in the community to advance the goals of the program, including expanding enrollment, aligning curriculum with industry trends, and ensuring all courses receive a Quality Matters designation. In addition, the Program Director will support students in the program by serving as a mentor.

Responsible for promoting and sustaining a collegial, respectful, and high-performing work environment for all employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure academic quality while focusing on student retention and completion.
  • Teaching duties up to 9 credits per semester.
  • Student recruitment and program promotion at appropriate events.
  • Coordinate industry experiences with appropriate partners.
  • Collaborate with faculty and community partners on program development, curriculum development (at the turnkey level), and articulation agreements.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other administrators in development of an efficient class schedule that meets student needs.
  • Ensure that student learning outcomes assessment plans are being followed with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for meaningful program and service review of assigned areas focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Work with leaders of assigned areas on annual budget construction and management.
  • Supervise recruitment and evaluation of all personnel in assigned areas.
  • Collaborate on faculty and staff development initiatives.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Exceptional people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, organizational, and technical skills adequate to help design, monitor, and interpret assessment results.
  • Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and institution accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications & Education
  • Minimum: Graduate degree in Sport and Fitness or related field, doctorate preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years working in the higher education sector with demonstrated effective leadership ability.
  • Teaching and curriculum and program development experience in the Sports Coaching, Leadership, and Wellness discipline at the post-secondary level.
