Assistant Dean of Admissions, Coordinator of Diversity and Access Engagement
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time
Supervisor: Director of Admissions for Programming & Partnerships
Position Purpose: Plays an integral role as part of the team overseeing the College’s multicultural recruitment of a diverse and talented class. Represents Union College to a wide and diverse audience throughout the United States.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Recruitment: Represents the College at various on and
off campus recruitment events, including college fairs, high school
visits, open houses, and other special events to attract potential
students. Coordinates, conducts, and contributes to the success of
various student visit programs designed to recruit targeted
applicant populations. Recruits, trains and manages student staff
in support of on-campus programming to support the recruitment and
enrollment of first generation and students from under-represented
backgrounds.
- Advisement: Advises prospective students,
parents, and key stakeholders on admission criteria, program
requirements, and transfer policies. Answers any questions
prospective students may have. Serves as mentor to other admissions
employees specifically surrounding recruitment strategies for
under-represented students.
- Outreach and Communication: Coordinates outreach
activities & programs focused on under-represented students.
Cultivates relationships, and manages ongoing strategic
communication with high school counselors, independent educational
consultants, parents, students (prospective and current), faculty,
and alumni and manages assigned recruitment territories. Partners
and liaises with key campus partners, including the intercultural
affairs office to support the enrollment of multicultural
populations.
- Additional Tasks: Oversees student volunteers. Reviews
and renders decisions as a member of the Committee of Admissions.
Pitches-in to help colleagues when it is needed or when
requested.
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of Admissions experience and/or
a combination of relevant education, training, certifications,
and/or work experience. Prior experience working in a small,
selective, liberal arts setting is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to engage in out-of-town travel as well
as evening and weekend commitments.
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
as well as confidence and clarity in public speaking.
- Facility with Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, Excel, PowerPoint
and related database and word processing applications.
- Exceptional time management and organization skill and the
ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experienced in using relational databases. Experience with
Slate preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and decision-making skills,
coupled with a strong sense of judgment and ability to maintain
confidentiality.

Compensation
The annual for this position is $58,500.00. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
