Facilities & Operations Manager
Location: Coeur d’Alene
Division/College: University Outreach-Northern Idaho

Pay Range: $57,012.80 annually or higher depending on experience

Position Summary:
The position is responsible for managing buildings and grounds to ensure the needs of faculty, staff and students are met. It will independently perform repair and maintenance tasks, responding to a variety of needs and issues. The position will manage operating budgets and planning for future needs to support university activities, ensuring compliance with university rules, regulations and policies. It will assess the needs of buildings for long-term functionality, developing and implementing standard operating procedures and project plans in accordance with business needs.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.
Duties may include:
- Managing and overseeing all facility-based projects
- Assessing building needs for long-term functionality, developing project plans including new construction, remodeling, major renovations and similar multi-layered projects
- Tracking spending and maintaining facility records, logs, documentation and reports
- Supervising facilities support personnel and overseeing the work of contractors on campus projects
- Managing use of facilities, determining needs and coordinating staff responsibilities
- Repairing and maintaining facilities
- Assisting trades team members in various maintenance, installations and repairs
- Maintaining and repairing tools and equipment
- Assisting in the procurement of parts, tools, supplies, appliances and equipment for facility
- Participating in snow removal programs
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks
- Developing and managing budgets
- Using computer software and applications for word processing, project and budget management, email and internet research
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Experience with space planning
- Familiarity with electrical aspects of commercial buildings
- Knowledge of computerized facilities control and data systems
- Experience interpreting plans, diagrams, and specifications of facilities that include architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical, technical codes and ordinances
- Ability to evaluate facilities to determine construction needs, suggest modifications, develop maintenance programs, create support for environmental systems, prepare construction reports, and maintain related records
- Experience performing commercial facility maintenance that includes skilled repair and maintenance in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, grounds, snow removal, filtration systems, and HVAC
- Knowledge of and the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the trades indicated; reading blueprints and specifications; estimating material needs and costs for jobs; maintaining records and writing reports
- Knowledge and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Knowledge of building and life safety codes

- Work in inclement weather conditions
