Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position reports to the Division Chair, Mechanical & Construction Technologies and has the following faculty and program chair duties and responsibilities:
- prepares curriculum, including writing syllabi, developing new courses, and selecting textbooks;
- develops and teaches millwright & machine shop including CNC and lecture and lab classes using traditional and alternative delivery methods;
- demonstrates, observes, evaluates, and provides technical skill feedback to students through close supervision of lab work;
- assists in the advisement of students;
- maintains industry contacts for advisory committee and student employment;
- performs program assessment for the Millwright/Machine Technology program;
- serves on various assigned college committees; and
- has a commitment to student success.
This position has a variable, non-traditional schedule based on workforce needs and Millwright and Mechanical Tech program structure.
Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
- Associate’s Degree in Machine Technology or related discipline from a regionally accredited college and a minimum of three (3) years of employment in the machine tools/ millwright field;
- ability to teach advanced lathe and milling operations;
- interest in alternative instructional delivery methods for basic instruction and advanced and possible use of online course management tools for hybrid delivery of machine technology courses;
- demonstrated ability in working with diverse populations including, but not limited to, age, gender, and culture;
- excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution; exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration as long as Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met.
- Certifications in NCCER, NIMS, HAAS, CNC, Robotics are preferred.
